The Digital Odyssey of Hunter Storm | From Cybersecurity to Connection
A bit about my journey: I wasn’t always a fan of Social Media. As someone deeply involved in technology and AI, it felt akin to communicating with a chatbot impersonal and detached. I preferred face-to-face interactions and disliked the online realm’s voyeuristic and self-centered aspects. In the early days, I created profiles but was disheartened by the negativity and ugliness that online interactions often revealed.
Despite the initial setbacks, I found ways to turn their negativity into a driving force for my growth. I coined the phrase “Seethe in Silence” and the hashtag “#SeetheInSilence” as a reminder to stay true to my values and not be swayed by negativity. By maintaining a positive outlook and staying true to my values, I not only silenced the critics, but also inspired others facing similar challenges. The turning point came when I hesitantly embraced a more public presence after singing at a friend’s birthday party. Concerned about judgment in my cybersecurity career, I gradually overcame the fear, eventually building a Social Media presence and launching a webpage.

In the cybersecurity field, we often stay offline to minimize exposure to potential risks. However, I grew tired of hiding various aspects of my life. More importantly, I needed to control the online narrative by presenting facts rather than permitting others to create narratives about me. Thus, I decided to step out of the creative closet, integrating my professional and personal worlds. Navigating multiple worlds has been a challenge; my friends, family, and professional circles had little insight into the intricate tapestry of my pursuits. Embracing this multifaceted identity, I’ve learned that authenticity transcends boundaries.
