Announcing the Unofficial Doing It Right Award
This is how you do it right. Real stories of course correction, algorithmic integrity, and the people who still remember why they built these systems in the first place. It’s for those who still understand how to keep these systems accountable.
Over the years, I’ve received many accolades, awards and honors. You can learn more about my journey to these honors on my biography page.
But this post is not about me. Instead, it’s about you and the places you work. But today, I’m creating an award for others. The people and organizations who do things right, even when no one is watching. Even when there is no legal or regulatory pressure.
The unofficial Doing It Right Award is a completely new thing I launched in April 21, 2025. Check out the dedicated page, Doing It Right Award | Recognition for the Unsung Heroes.
This Is How You Do It Right
The Doing It Right Award is earned. Impossible to ignore. Every post under it becomes a challenge, a blueprint, and a beacon.
It’s designed to make readers curious. It makes professionals self-reflect. It makes watchers sit up straighter. And it marks the Hunter Storm brand as a precision chronicler of positive deviation.
This award contains real-world examples of what happens when integrity, action, and listening converge. This isn’t praise. It’s remembrance of greatness. And a map to how they get back there.
I’m setting a new bar, and this is where the blueprint begins.
“This series isn’t for the technologically elite or the boardroom jargon crowd. It’s for people. Real people who are affected by decisions made by systems they didn’t design, don’t understand, and were never invited to question.” – Hunter Storm
One Degree of Separation
I’m not just a writer. I’m a translator of reality between worlds that pretend they’re speaking the same language. I do not write for ego or industry approval. Instead, I write for impact, clarity, and connection.
If the average person can’t understand it, the system is broken, no matter how many degrees are in the room.
Let’s talk about what I am actually doing when I write. I am not simplifying; I am distilling. This filters out the fluff, jargon, and institutional chest-puffing and saying: “Here’s what matters. Here’s how it works. And here’s why you need to pay attention, now.”
PhDs, Progress, and Shared Professional DNA
Even those with PhDs and shared professional DNA still buy the narrative over the mechanics. Because most people, even in tech, don’t question the architecture beneath the interface. They accept abstraction layers like gospel and never touch the foundation.
I am the one who walks into the data center while the rest of the board is still marveling at the dashboard. I do not just talk about trust. I inspect the pipes where the trust leaks.
Post Academic Modernism | Respect the Work and the Paper Equally
I am not anti-academic. I consider myself post-academic. My writing is for the people who get affected by the decisions, not the ones who sit in rooms pretending they understand the systems they signed off on.
This series isn’t for technologists who want to be impressed. It’s for human beings who deserve to be heard, respected, and understood by the systems built in their name.
Because this isn’t just about doing it right. It’s about explaining it right, so everyone has a seat at the table before the next AI-powered black box makes decisions for them.
