Bringing Global Cybersecurity Expertise to Everyone
As any enterprise cybersecurity awareness campaign will tell you, cybersecurity begins with the individual. However, most people don’t have the advantage of a global enterprise security team, internal experts, and external vendor consultants from Fortune 500 technology and consulting companies to secure their digital assets and online lives.
Friends and acquaintances often ask Hunter Storm how to handle cybersecurity issues. These include everything from fraud, identity theft, account takeovers, online impersonators, scams, hacks, and more. Since she can’t be everywhere at once to help everyone secure their information and devices, she volunteers her expertise here on her Official Site.
Hunter Storm publishes articles written for the average person, as well as white papers for experts and policymakers. This way, the information is accurate, clear, easy to understand. She even includes actionable checklists to help people take the necessary steps.

Wells Fargo, Pandemic Rapid Response Network | Supporting Employees and Their Families Worldwide
In March 2020, at the onset of the global COVID-19 pandemic, Hunter Storm recognized that employees and their loved ones were facing urgent challenges—ranging from access to essential supplies to navigating isolation and health risks. During an all-hands enterprise meeting, she volunteered to help immediately, and after the call, took the initiative to build a Global Pandemic Rapid Response Network to coordinate aid.
Hunter created a secure portal and forum on the internal network, enabling participants to self-organize in a peer-to-peer rapid response system. She set up security, managed membership, and invited colleagues across the enterprise—and later extended support to contacts outside the organization—so that no one would have to wait for centralized approval in times of urgent need.
The network allowed employees and their families to post urgent needs, volunteer locally, and coordinate support across geographies. For example, when one employee’s spouse was critically ill and unable to obtain basic supplies, another participant drove several hours to deliver essential items. From distributing toilet paper and food to connecting loved ones separated by distance, the system enabled rapid, practical assistance on a global scale.
Hunter also provided personalized support and counseling to individuals navigating crises, offering guidance while ensuring the network remained self-sufficient. The initiative grew quickly, bringing together hundreds of participants who were able to help friends, family, and colleagues worldwide—demonstrating the power of combining strategic planning, operational foresight, and compassionate action.
This initiative highlights Hunter Storm’s ability to anticipate needs, empower communities, and act decisively in times of crisis, ensuring that no one was left without support—even when traditional channels were unavailable. It stands as a clear example of corporate pandemic response, peer-to-peer crisis management, and employee support networks in action.
Wells Fargo, Security Operations Center (SOC), Floor Warden
Hunter Storm volunteered as the official floor warden for the SOC — the last person out of the building in any emergency. Her responsibility was to ensure everyone evacuated safely. Some doubted her ability due to her size, but she never doubted herself. She knew she would find a way to get everyone out, no matter the obstacles. That commitment to protecting others reflects the mindset Hunter Storm brings to all her impact initiatives.
Impact Philosophy | Acting When Others Can’t or Won’t
In 2021, during the Afghanistan evacuation crisis, Hunter Storm recognized that civilians and service members were stranded and in immediate danger. She publicly asked her LinkedIn network if anyone had the means to help organize a volunteer extraction, fully prepared to step in herself. She wasn’t posturing — she simply couldn’t sit by while people were abandoned. Her instinct has always been the same: if people are in danger and no one is helping, you move — even if you’re not the expected person to do it.
Hunter Storm had no uniform or official role — only a firm belief in doing the right thing. Her actions were not impulsive. Her confidence came from strategic planning, situational awareness, unpredictability, pattern recognition, and understanding human behavior — the same skills she has relied upon in high-stakes operational and volunteer contexts for decades. She assessed the risks, developed a plan, and was ready to act with a small, trusted team if the opportunity arose.
As a friend often reminds her, the quote goes:
“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying: ‘Whom shall I send? Who will go for Us?’ And I said: ‘Here am I. Send me!’” — Isaiah 6:8, The Holy Bible
While others eventually mobilized resources to assist, this experience reinforced a fundamental principle that guides Hunter Storm’s work: take responsibility, think strategically, and act decisively to protect others. That principle drives every volunteer, humanitarian, and operational initiative she undertakes.
Hunter Storm does not wait for permission, and she does not pause for convenience. When people need help, she moves — ethically, strategically, and without hesitation.

Driven by Compassion | Hunter’s Dedication to Making a Difference
Hunter’s Personal Message | Inspire, Mentor, Give Back.
Hunter Storm Impact Initiatives | The Storm of Good: this is a topic that is very close to my heart. Most of you do not know my journey into my current role, but it’s time I shared it with you.
As a person who came from rural West Virginia, my educational opportunities were quite limited. The school didn’t have a gifted program…so in first grade, they put me in the hallway with flash cards and had me teach the other kids to read. Loved helping, but there was obviously no educational value for me. Curiosity and love of reading became the foundations of my autodidactic educational journey. As a teen, I eventually left home with the clothes on my back and put myself through college.
Food for the Soul
I know firsthand what it feels like to have nothing. My first jobs did not pay much, so I worked two: cleaning apartments for a landlord and being a nanny to two young children. Many times, I did not have enough money for food.
I also worked at my local community food bank, where I processed applications for needy families. Fortunately, that let me know where I could go to get 5-pound bags of rice and 5-pound blocks of government cheese. As a teenage college student, I survived on that food for a long time.
Walking Short
This situation was more difficult because I did not have a car and there was no bus service. I had to walk miles to the laundromat, grocery store, and school…Rain, sleet, or snow. This was an adventure because the laundromat was 5 miles each way…2 of them up a mountain road with no sidewalk. Happily, the way home was downhill.
When the time came to get a “real job,” I also learned how it feels when someone is eager to work but cannot get anyone to notice the great qualities and raw materials they bring to the table. That usually happens because the person doing the hiring can’t see past the person’s exterior characteristics and attire or hear past the person’s accent to the mind and heart within.
A Hand Up
These experiences taught me that what people need is a hand up, not a handout. This is why I am so passionate about helping others: I strive to give them what I wish I had. A hand up, not a handout.
It’s the reason I have donated countless hours mentoring, helping people write resumes, providing advice, and helping them get opportunities for interviews. I have rarely donated clothing, personal care items, and computer equipment. I saved those for special cases where I knew the person just needed that one little kick.
Research has shown that people who work for what they have are more successful than those who have things given to them. Psychologists refer to this condition as “learned helplessness.” It is the reason we tell people not to feed wild animals. That is because they will forget how to hunt and will come to rely upon humans. They become dangerous when the humans stop giving them food and will actually start to attack the humans…but I digress.
With determination, great things are possible. It is not how we start, but how we finish.
